Quality Since 1953
Fairfield’s Rare Coins was started in 1953 by Jim Fairfield, Sr. After returning from military service, he decided to turn his coin-collecting hobby into a business. He started a local coin club and helped found the state organization. In 1969 he acquired Art/Coins, a popular downtown coin store, and Fairfield’s coin business was born.
The Jewelry side of the business was added in the 1970s after the purchase of the first of many jewelry store inventories Fairfield’s has bought, always maintaining Fort Wayne roots. It was through this first purchase that Fairfield’s unique practice of selling jewelry by weight at a low markup became about. The Fairfield family has a long history in Fort Wayne, having lived here since 1832, so it is no surprise that their family business has become a local landmark.
Our Future
As the jewelry portion of Fairfield’s business continues to grow, so does our staff of family experts. Jim Jr’s daughters Jessica and Jacky have recently joined Fairfield’s team. The younger generations of Fairfields add additional services as well as fresh jewelry ideas.
Today, you will find three generations of Fairfield’s working together to provide the Fort Wayne community with exceptional and passionate service.
